Rath Yatra – a pious procession

On every Ashadh Shukla Bij (2nd day in bright fortnight in Ashadh month), the Hindu celebrate Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. The temple of bhagawan Jagannath is situated at Puri in the state of Orissa in India.

On this festival, people carry three idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Subhadra in the chariots. These chariots are fully decorated and given them the shapes of temples. The Hindu celebrates this procession with devotion and love towards the lords.

In Ahmedabad, the procession starts from Kalupur and goes through the old Ahmedabad. During the procession, many people participate in different activities.

It is really enjoying one and people love to walk through the whole procession.
